At 7:00 you could’ve just taken bucketfuls of that water and poured it onto the lava. Free coal and you could’ve gotten access to the iron

Here is a simple trick. When exploring caves choose a side on witch to put the torches. So, if you for example find torches on the left you could see: Left side, deeper in to the cave. Right side - that's the way out.
