As summer approaches, a renegade group of lifeguards is making a splash over the right way to prevent ocean drownings. They say last year's rip safety campaign got it wrong. Ninety people drowned last summer, sparking questions over the wisdom of the ad's message: "To escape a rip, swim parallel to the beach.
Last month a group of researchers put the theory to test in Australia's first rip experiment.
