We finally did it team! We put a roof on this off grid cabin JUST in time for winter (literally). Van life over the years has spoiled us and taking on the roofing was harder than I expected. But living alone in the wilderness pushes you out of your comfort zone - and we finally did it! Wooooo hoo for metal roof installations with no experience. Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. Absolutely, Awesome! I was a roofer for 3 years. What the two of you did, aside from the rookie hole for the chimney, is spectacularly difficult. So, yea, you earned a little bit of "screw this". Great roof, great job! here's a secret for the future. Hold roofing nails between your index and middle finger to set them. If you hold them between your thumb and index....and you miss hit. It hurts like hell! Your fingernails don't like to be hit on edge. However, when your finders are laying flat (index and middle) you can whack em pretty good and it doesn't hurt as much. You can also hold extra nails in your hand and just roll them between your fingers to make.the job go faster. Glad your safe and thanks again.
