Consistent Effort Over Time - Motivational Video
Показать описание
When there’s a goal that we want to accomplish we always focus on the beginning. What do I need, how do I get started, what’s involved. Or we think about the end goals: what kind of results will I get, how much money will I make, when will the grind be over?
But really the most crucial part of chasing your goals is the middle. It’s when you second guess yourself. When you think you’re crazy or just plain wasting your time. Starting is easier than you think. The hard part is staying consistent.
Because let’s face it, most things you want to accomplish in life take a long time. If you’re overweight and you want to get down to a healthy weight it could take months or even years in some cases. If you want to build a business, it’s not happening overnight no matter how good your idea. Even if you’re wildly passionate about an idea, it’s going to take a long time. Because the rest of the world may not be wildly passionate about what you are doing.
Yes, there are exceptions. There are people with overnight success. Those people got lucky. And you can’t bet on luck. And in a lot of cases, that person’s success wasn’t even fast. You just saw the highlights so it looks fast. Media tends to do that a lot these days. You look on facebook or instagram and it looks like people are moving so fast and having so much fun, but you’re only seeing snapshots of their best moments.
Even a linear planned event that’s for the most part already mapped out for you, like college or high school, can take years.
Have you ever wished you started something sooner? Wish you didn’t wait around so long? There’s a chance that you never started because you were focused more on the results than the process. If you had just kept at it all these years, you’d probably already be at your goal by now.
The solution is to be consistent and think more about your long term goals. You have to be comfortable with working on something day in and day out like a routine. You have to accept that it’s just something you’re going to do. You’re not going to overthink about the results. You’re not going to procrastinate.
This is how you prevent yourself from quitting or changing your mind. Admit to yourself that it’s going to take years. Admit to yourself that you’ll continue to do it when you’re bored, sad, angry, or tired.
I’ve spoken so much about the drive to be consistent, but what about the benefits. Consistency saves time. When you have a consistent routine, it takes less time to think about. Less time to plan. It’s practically automated.
And you can have a chance to develop your skills. Because when you practice something over and over, you get really good at it. Practice makes perfect after all.
Having a consistent routine is also a discipline. It prevents you from screwing around. Because you know you have an important positive life changing obligation. It’s something to dedicate yourself to.
And best of all it’s an investment in your future. After all, you wanted this. Now it’s up to you to stick with it and find a way to make it work. Because there’s always a way to make it work. And with enough consistent effort you can find that way.
