Very good video. Cat People! Sounds like a 50s horror film! LOL The cat food is rather expensive. Your first order is 50% off, but have to sign up for auto ship. 🎶 “I'm flat broke but I don't care; I strut right by with my tail in the air. . .get my dinner from a garbage can!” 🎶 – Brian Setzer. Thanks for this information. My 11yr old Dorkie hasn’t been finishing her food. Bloodwork was normal. She was on Raised Right. I did research and came across your channel. My vet ( which is a Vetrinary Hospital), recommended Just Food for Dogs and is what she feeds her dogs. I mentioned she is a senior and her sister literally passed away that day at 17 from kidney failure and considering Hills 11+, which is a lot lower then Raised Right and Just Food for Dogs. She said, not to change her protein or she will loose muscle mass. I am very confused and worried. I did end up buying the Hills and she’s been eating it all! I’m still worried the protein is only 18%, but I think it is the right good for her.

For those considering feeding JFFD, I recommend the turkey and macaroni recipe (not featured in this video). It's not grain-free, is for maintenance, and probably has the most optimal nutrient levels of all their recipes. (It also happens to be a bit cheaper than the other recipes!) My dog, who has had digestive issues on kibble, does fantastic on this food. :) Also, their customer service is very knowledgeable and helpful.

From the website: "Rather than simply adhering to the Association of American Feed Control Official's (AAFCO) bare minimum for testing, which requires only four blood parameters be tested over six months in just six dogs, we tested the recipes over the course of a year, looking at complete blood counts (CBC) and full internal organ chemistry (CHEM) panels in a total of 30 adult dogs."

Dr. Rea is there a myth surrounding feeding a moisture rich feline diet? Many people think a moisture rich diet will delay kidney disease in cats. But im wondering, is there any science behind that? I am just curious as there are many people in the feline nutrition space who say cats should only have wet food to prevent kidney disease. But if you’re feeding a wet food diet high in phosphorus and calcium wouldn’t that be counterproductive compared to let’s say feeding a dry food with the appropriate nutrient levels. I’m just curious? As a cat owner there’s always so much debate around this.

Thank you! Can you share the link to the pdf file? Looks very informative but I can't find it.

Does this food need the calculation to find the ‘new’ appropriate levels of nutrition? If it is 44kcal/oz, ~35oz/kg, so kcal/kg would be 44x35=1, 540 kcal/kg, correct? Or is this all out the window because the information was given on a dry matter basis and they already did every calculation that would need done?
SECONDLY, if a food is low/lacking in vitamin e (seems like that’s the pattern in a lot of foods), would a supplement be something that could be included to boost that?
