Over the years, Halloween has changed for many of us. But, we always end up looking back on some of our fondest memories of ones that have come and gone.
Why is it that we do that? And what about the 1990s made Halloween so special?

“It was a long time ago, longer now than it seems” such a nostalgic sound..🎃

Halloween has always been special to me, but i dont know what it is today but a lot of us seem way more nostalgic for Halloween than anything else. I mean, for 31 days in October I'm just completely in Halloween mode! It has consumed me the past 7 or 8 years now, especially since/during the pandemic... It just the greatest time

(90's kid here) I'll never forget we had a Halloween party in elementary school, they turned out the lights and made us close our eyes as we sat in a circle. Passing around a plate we were told each plate had pieces of a human's head; then they tossed the pieces in a small bucket or 'cauldron' in the circle we'd formed. We'd squeal with fear and being all grossed out, some of the water getting on us, only for the teacher to turn on the lights and show us that everything we'd been afraid of were merely pieces of food. Like peeled grapes for eyes or cooked spaghetti for the hair. I'm surprised we got away with that sort of thing cause I know they probably wouldn't let us now, but it was a good way to show how our imagination can make things worse than they are.

I'd be so excited not just counting down the days for Halloween, but all the specials and commercials on TV. It really made the month feel so otherworldly and exciting. Also I recall waiting on the bus when it was freezing cold and there was a thick fog hiding the road, so we'd hear the bus coming but didn't see it until it was right at our driveway. I miss how the season felt, the smells, the chill, the excitement and fear. Halloween really was a special time. Also you can't forget those sugar cookies with the black cats, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns on them. So cheap yet so nostalgic.

Goosebumps and Scary Godmother are the best

9:20 Fear Fest is still around. I watched it every year up until very recently (I've fallen out of love with cable).

I feel ya with this man. I'm lucky to live in a neighborhood that's a bit old school. Families are still moving in with younger kids so the neighborhood isn't dying out or anything. It isn't overly big either! Having kids (like you said you do), I've tried to recreate some things from when I was a kid.

I'M 52 YEARS OLD AND IN THE LATE 70S AND 80S HALLOWEEN 🎃 WAS THE BEST TIME EVER. I REMEMBER WATCHING HALLOWEEN BACK IN 1979 ON HBD AFTER O WENT TRICK OR TREATING .

I’m 50. The city where my brother lives does Halloween the Saturday before Halloween, and it’s a huge deal. Lots of houses go all out and hundreds of kids. I love it! 🎃

Twenty-eight days until Halloween, Halloween….Silver Shamrock 🎃

Halloween in the 90"s and the early 2000's. Was a treat. School was more fun. Trick or treating was fun. The movies. People didn't question everything. Like they do now. It was more of a good time. I miss those days. Happy Halloween. 🎃👻💀🧟🧛

Okay, but why is this like my favorite video of yours? Lol

100% agree, man. Halloween and Christmas both just hit different as a kid. What a vibe.

It always baffles me that some people’s parents don’t celebrate Halloween because they’re super religious when my mom is extremely religious and Halloween is her favorite holiday, every year she goes all out with decorating the house with witch decorations and she creates elaborate Halloween parties every year because she loves the holiday so much

I agree with you. Late 90s/early 2000s halloweens were awesome. I watched Halloween for the first time on October 31, 2002! I was 13.

I never really changed the way I celebrate. I mean, I guess I did, but I never stopped watching all those kids things and if I could I would still trick-or-treak. To quote Grandma Aggie from Halloweentown "Being normal is vastly overrated." Plus, it's a nerdy holiday. Cosplay. I never really grew up, though.

As an 80’s kid growing up Halloween was amazing. I remember watching the Halloween safety videos in school on joe to be seen and not run out infront of cars. Definitely remember having a Halloween party the day of in school. Don’t remember what we watched in school. But I remember having all the cousins come over and mom and dad would get pizza before we all went out. I remember watching Garfield’s Halloween and Charley brown as we sorted all our candy. I don’t miss the the 89’s crappy costumes
