India has the world’s second largest higher education system with
over 58,000 higher education institutions. Nearly 2,400 higher education institutions were added during 2021-22. In fact, an average of 59 universities were added per year from 2014–15
through 2020–21. Over the next ten years, India will have the highest proportion of young people in the entire world. And it is so critical to point out that our capacity to provide high-quality, global standard, educational opportunities to our youngsters will determine the
destiny of the country. The nation does boast a range of impressive institutions which are globally recognized-- IITs, IIMs and IIS but need to scale up.
A breakthrough moment for India if we can address this in totality, towards an advanced economy.
