I took a trip to an agricultural auction, where I found the new addition to my farmhouse!

Hi Dom, first thing to do before the box thing you want to get for it is to fit roll over protrction. They are the two upright bars and cross bar you see on the tractor at 2:25 in your video. We had lots of fatal farm accidents here in Australia, now these are mandtory on tractors in Aus. They save lives, you dont need them until you do. Fit these first, once you get the tractor home. Pot planters look great. Good luck with your projects following along eagerly. A fan from Aus.

They were designed by Harry Fergusons company after he left Massey-Harris-Ferguson, he was trying to get back to the light weight style tractor that could do a little of everything for the crofters/small family farms. BMC took up the design, but after Leyland were forced to adopt BMC the mini tractor was integrated into the Nuffield range and the engine was changed to the bigger B series 1500cc diesel, which didn’t help the cold starting much but gained torque.

Brilliant! So chuffed for you getting your own tractor. The apprehension on your face as you first moved it was priceless, then you looked like a kid with a new toy. Magical! Now you need a diesel tank and get yourself a delivery of red diesel - which is a fraction of the price of consumer diesel. Love this series! Keep up the great work.

Nice little diesel tractor! At auctions, always stand to the side, with auctioneer on the left and crowd on the right. When bidding, watch out in the crowd where auctioneer is pointing at the other bidders. If you stand in front with crowd to your back, shady auctioneers will have you bidding against yourself while they point in the back at the man that wasn't there.

The Tractor looks great, I think with you being a novice tractor driver you should put your fabricating skills into making a roll bar/cage for your own protection. Good luck in your new ventures

Hi Dom, the trick to keeping thouse BMC deisels starting and running well I keep the fuel filters clean, you need good pressure to make the injection system work .
Clean fuel, clean filters clean lift pump filter.

I noticed the David Brown tractor there. Here's an interesting fact for people who are unaware, after David Brown manufactured tractors, he bought Aston Martin and that's where the 'DB' in the name comes from, e.g. DB7, DB9, DBS, etc.

I used to work at Longbridge and they had a "heavy gang" that used to move machinery. They had a little tractor similar to that, but a Nuffield. 3 cylinder diesel. The little BMC will be a valuable asset around the new place. Mart in Solihull.

Keep an eye out for some weights to go on the front.You may find it will lift the front off the ground with that granite trough on the back

Congratulations Dom, on winning the tractor and the troughs! Very useful to have, now you can make yourself a plywood sled with a home made metal pulling bar across the front short end of the plywood, bolted on, weld a hoop onto the metal or two on either side of the metal bar attach chain and wa-la... a sled you can pull around your place and haul stuff. That's what my Dad did on our ranch and yes we had my grandfather's ford tractor, made in late 30's or very early 40's and was used on the farm even in my time. So even if you didn't get the tractor that you originally wanted, I think you got a good one, specially from the trust. Thanks for taking us along, enjoyed it and your successes and loved the video!!
