In this video we explain graphical methods of vector addition and subtraction to determine the displacement of moving objects.
To add the two vectors, translate one of the vectors so that the terminal point of one vector coincides with the starting point of the second vector and the sum is a vector whose starting point is the starting point of the first vector and the terminal point is the terminal point of the second vector.
In Three dimensions, a vector describes motion in Three perpendicular directions.
Addition and subtraction of vectors result in another new vector which has a different magnitude and direction.
To add two vectors a and b geometrically, first draw the 1st vector and now draw the 2nd vector in such a way that the terminal point of the first vector coincides the initial point of the second vector.The sum will be a+b which is the new vector formed by the joining the initial point of the first vector and the terminal point of the second vector.This method of adding vectors is called the Parallelogram law for vector addition. The resultant vector is a+b
