Join us on an unforgettable road trip to Subotica, one of Serbia’s most unique and underrated cities! Just minutes from the Hungarian border, this town is bursting with Art Nouveau architecture, colorful facades, and fascinating Austro-Hungarian history. 😍

🏛️ We’ll show you the only synagogue in the world built in Hungarian Secession style, the breathtaking Art Nouveau Raichle Palace, the peaceful Franciscan Monastery, and a beautiful Orthodox Church. From walking streets lined with stunning secessionist buildings to vibrant local markets and delicious food, Subotica has it all.

🍻 We even discovered a local version of one of our favorite Belgrade beer spots, Samo Pivo (WAY cooler than the Belgrade location), and wrapped up the day with an incredible dinner in the heart of a historic palace courtyard.

✨ Whether you're an architecture nerd, a cultural explorer, or just someone who loves charming small cities, Subotica is calling.

👇 Hit that play button, and let’s explore Subotica together!

Serbia itself is amazing but sprinkled with this Hungarian 🇭🇺 flavour- that what makes Serbia, Slovakia, Croatia’s and Roumaine so incredible places!

Thanks for getting me excited about my upcoming trip to Serbia! I will be staying 2 nights in Subotica this July. Thanks for the great commentary and shots of the art nouveau buildings. I'm also from the PNW and love finding craft beer when I travel. I took several notes from your vlog! Looking forward to watching the rest of your videos.

It's always very refreshing to see my city of birth through the lens of someone else. I've walked/cycled past these buildings a thousand times as a kid and never really appreciated their architectural value. So thank you for this lovely vlog. I'll definitely check out these gems.
PS if and when you get the chance, visit Szeged too, just over the border in Hungary. You will like it

Subotica (Subota = Saturday) - definitely is the 'hidden jewel' of northern Serbia's Voyvodina province! I believe the new high-speed train Belgrade-Budapest goes through Subotica and I will definitely make a stop on my next visit.

Wonderful video. Not very many people see the interiors of some of those beautiful buildings, so thanks for showing that. My recommendation - next time also visit the Palic lake, just 7 km from Subotica. It also has amazing architecture, very different, like every home has something that looks like a small bell tower, but they are not churches. Also some very nice restaurants there. Good for a walk, there is also a large park, kids playing... Very nice for an afternoon.

Just to point out something for clarification. The word "palace" in the context of the Raichle Palace (in Serbian Rajhlova palata) in Subotica does not refer to a royal palace, as one might think. Rather, it refers to a beautiful, charming, captivating building.

Boss Café is truly excellent. Their special grill menu is really recommendable.
Prior to the restaurant, to the left, you have the winery Zvonko Bogdan's shop. Their wines are amongst the best in Serbia, but the top reds are quite expensive. They also sell their spirits, with the brand "Baraba" being of the highest quality. Their lozovača rakija won first prize at IWSC in London with 99 points, world's largest spirit competition. All other brandies of the Baraba portfolio also got medals.

I hope you make a vlog about Sremski Karlovci. It is even smaller town, with lots of interesting architecture, history, and tradition.

A monastery can date from the 13th century but that does not mean the buildings date from then.
