I asked the dr about this when I was 13 and he flat out told me it was “overweight spots”. I wasn’t overweight. Triggered a spiral of eating and body issues. Especially since my mom believed him. Didnt realize until in my 30’s it wasn’t that. So glad the truth is out there

Holy shit! This video helped me figure out what's been going on with my legs! For YEARS I was self conscious. I honestly thought they were all ingrown hairs and I completely stopped shaving in hopes it would help the red bumps go away.
Thank you!

I was told my entire life that I had eczema. Eczema treatments never worked for me, my arms were always red and bumpy. Then I saw this video. Decided to look up pictures and it’s an exact match! I’m really excited to try this out and maybe get results!!

This is the first time I've ever heard anyone talk about my keratosis Pilares. Finding advice about this is like finding a good person in Hollywood.

I’ve been able to solve mine by using castor oil once a week. Application is easy in the product is not expensive. The nature of Castor oil is that it sink deep into the tissues, stimulate circulation, and gets rid of toxins, impurities, and bad tissue.

I hope this helps folks. I’m sure this remedy works too, but Castor oil is a little bit easier and less expensive in my opinion.

Exfoliation and direct sunlight on the areas will also work wonders

MY FIX:
Had this on my legs (and still have this on my upper arms). I did laser hair removal on my legs because I hated shaving. As a result, because the hair follicles are damaged in the process, it cleared the keratosis! (Keratosis pilaris comes from excess keratin build up in hair follicles). I haven't done my upper arms purely because I cba at the moment. I have an at home laser hair removal device as it's cheaper than appointments at a clinique. You do it once a month and can see results by treatment 3-4, but results vary. It's bloody tedious to laser yourself though, which is why I haven't gotten around to my arms. But I do recommend it, the effort is worth it. I haven't lasered my legs for like a year and a half and the keratosis is creeping in somewhat (even though my hair is permanently sparser and thinner) so just know lasering may require upkeep after extended periods, particularly if you're stubbornly hairy.
EDIT/RESPONSE:
I'd like to correct what I said, yes it is technically an IPL. And also, the first initial treatments are actually every 2 weeks and, thereafter, you're recommended to reduce it to once a month. After that, once every six months is acceptable for maintenance. This recommendation is provided through the Phillips Lumea app which you install to guide you on how to use the device etc. It also sends notifications to remind you of due treatments. The app itself will advise you on how to use the device based on hair and skin colour. For instance, there is an intensity setting on the device and darker hair may require higher intensity. I recommend you do your own research if you're blonde before purchasing. You can also opt to decrease intensity if you find it stings too much (as it does infact sting but this is very bareable for lower legs or arms but you may flinch when doing inner thighs or underarms). Each session for, say, both legs takes me around 30-45 minutes depending on how thorough I am. I noticed sparser and thinner hair relatively quick, but it took a few more sessions to see a difference with my keratosis. With this, consistency is key and if you're lazy, or unmotivated like me, it can take longer. I thought I'd do sessions while watching a movie or listening to a podcast or something but the device is actually quite loud tbh. Overall though, I'm happy with the device.

I found that exfoliating with a basic grocery store exfoliating body wash cleared up most of my issues. It helped remove skin that was blocking my leg hair from growing out properly.

I found that sweating helps with this condition either through regular heat producing exercise or saunas. I have had this off and on since childhood Andreea that simply sweating and regular gentle exfoliation works very well.

CeraVe cream (the thick kind in the tub) and gentle exfoliation worked wonders for me. CeraVe has an "SA" version of it with salicylic acid too.

I made a body oil with aloe vera, grapeseed oil, and vitamin E oil (pure).
No irritation. Skin will feel like butter, and it will take maybe 5 days

I've had KP for a long time and the best remedy that worked for me was
Stop eating Dairy and Gluten
Apply Lactic acid cream to the KP affected areas directly after your shower when your body is still damp so the cream will last longer.

In addition I recommend omega 3 capsules with high amounts of docosahexaenoic acids (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acids (EPA).

Yes, these work! As an esthetician I have to say if you use glycolic acid, anywhere-face, ARMS, use SPF! You don’t want skin cancer. ✌️

When I asked my allergist about the strawberry skin, he told me not to take any showers for a year. Just baths with unscented soap for sensitive skin. And it resolved and has never reoccurred! I guess the logic was the water wouldn’t hit my skin and leave it less irritated. I assumed it was keratosis pillaris. He never said if it was or wasn’t. He said it was my light, sensitive skin getting irritated.

My miracle cure - direct sunlight! I'm in the cold Midwest but whenever I travel to the Caribbean for at least a few nights, my back and arm KP clears up.

You can also add the Glycolic acid to a travel sized spray bottle! It helps with application and less waste, I was using it for my feet! Safety Tip: don't spray around pets and do it in a well ventilated area.
