There had already been Russian military personel in Crimea and no, it wasn't an annexation. A legally binding referendum was held from a population that is historically attached (culturally, linguistically, emotionally, geographically) to Russia with an oberwhelmingly outcome of > 90% to join the Russian Federation.

Would be great if you could interview Scott Ritter. His article in Consortium News seems to really fill in some potentially important missing pieces in the origins of Russiagate.
