Biden caught in hot mic moment

U.S. President Joe Biden responded acerbically to a question from a journalist on the Ukraine crisis on Thursday (January 20), smiling and saying "what a stupid question", in a moment caught on a hot mic.
The journalist had shouted out, "Why are you waiting on Putin to make the first move sir?" as press were being escorted out of a meeting between Biden and his Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
Russia has massed tens of thousands of troops on its borders with Ukraine, and Western states fear Moscow is planning a new assault on a country it invaded in 2014.
At a news conference Wednesday, Biden appeared to suggest Washington and its allies might disagree over the response if Moscow stopped short of a major invasion.
He clarified his remarks on Thursday, saying that if any Russian units move across the border, "that is an invasion."
