Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet’s challenging conditions, and we are there to film it and show it to the world.

Hello everyone! Thanks for being here and part of our community. Would you dare to head out through Haulover Inlet in these conditions?

As others have alluded to in different ways, black smoke from a diesel (and this kind of black smoke only comes from diesels) is a result of poor combustion, whereby the heavier components leave behind unburnt carbon (ie, literally, element C). There are four main suspects: injectors (worn or stuck, causing poor atomisation of fuel), turbo chargers (broken or air filters clogged, causing lack of oxygen during combustion), piston rings (broken er excessively worn, causing poor cylinder sealing), or engine/fuel management system issues. Piston ring/sealing issues are very unlikely to be the case here, as they tend to (also) produce white smoke from the lubrication oil, and failure of the engine management system (ie, effectively the same as EFI for a petrol engine) is very unlikely. It's also unlikely to be caused by unusual throttle application by the operator, as this should be handled by the engine management system. If otherwise maintenance of the vessel is good, it's a blown turbo or a bad injector; and if not, it's poor maintenance, the injectors need to be refurbished, and/or the intake air filters need to be cleaned/renewed.

Black smoke is an air fuel ratio problem. Too much fuel can be caused by a variety of reasons.

Boaters, it's okay to wear a PFD while in route, Captains, it's okay to turn around ) stay safe people.

Rule 101 in bar crossings, don't attempt it with any sort of swell on a run out tide. 99% of the challenging exits/entrances in these videos are on a strong run out tide.
And why most of these boats want to go outside in generally appalling conditions is totally lost on me.

I'm amazed that so many people go out when there are small craft warnings. For many of the passengers, I don't see how they would like getting beatup for a pleasure trip.

I LOVE your channel!! With the waters being so rough, and the spray from the boats, do you lose a lot of drones making these videos?

Dirty fuel, running rich, or not serviced well to maintain the diesel.

Black smoke is either from an air intake issue or from heavy throttle use at low speed. Like trying to push against each wave then backing off and hitting full again for the next

Possibly a stuck open injector. Diesel engine. 3:02

Hi, watching from Ontario Canada. Not much of a boater myself, but never ever go out in a boat that size without a life jacket. NEVER put my kid on a boat without a life jacket.
Can someone explain why there are so few people in the videos wearing life jackets? What am I missing?

The large yacht at the end was beautiful but it was also spewing black exhaust.

As usual no body is wearing a life jacket and I see that most boats VHF airels are folded down, that’s no good if you have a man overboard or sinking situation!

smoke is probably due to a fouled bottom. Even ablative paint requires cleaning and moving at least 12 knots for it to work.

Better love fishing, or punishment, to be out there on a day like that.

Black smoke is blown oil rings? Incorrect fuel mixture?
