I'm 32 years old and wear this scent to work and get many compliments. My grandfather wore this since the 70's it brings back memories going through his medicine cabinet and spraying all his colognes.

Glad to see this one get some love. Z-14 usually gets all the Halston love but I love 1-12 a lot more.

Would love to see a Halston 1-12 then and now

Many of Halston's designs were minimalist and futuristic, including his mirrored offices at Olympic Tower. The bottle prototypes were made in clay. An employee accidentally pressed one of the molds, creating a dent. Halston went along with the 'flawed' design. Would definitely recommend getting a vintage bottle of 1-12, lasts twice as long as the current version with more basil and oakmoss.

Great review man! I prefer the older formulation, it does smell different, but the newer version is very good. Many younger people have no recollection of this scent, so they are unbiased about the idea that it smells like an old man. I've had quite a few compliments from all age groups. 1-12 is a win!! I suspect this is the case because the older scents smell very different to most of the "sameness" that modern fragrances have. Hence, they are sometimes perceived as being different in a good way.

I was doing some early Xmas shopping today and picked this up for like $9 bucks at Burlington. I dig it and after spraying, I instantly recognized smelling this on older dudes when I was kid. Haha It's smells like a dark Irish Spring (paco is like a green and bright version IS ). I also get a bit of Quorum when it dries down. I dig it. ...great review my man and a nice classic

Awesome video. I love halston112. the value you get is off the charts for 9-13 bucks. can't think of a better value proposition for classic masculine colognes.

Another great review Kelan. I've always passed this one up in favour of Z-14. Might as well give it another go considering it's so cheap.

On my skin, the punchy greens back off very quickly. What’s left is a classic white soap kind of smell— like Lever 2000 or Ivory. It shifts to a skin scent fairly quickly on me, but it hangs out in that capacity for a long time.
It’s nice. I think of it as something to wear when I just want to smell clean but not flashy.

Great description. Bogart signature or paco Rabbane with Azzaro pour homme. I also prefer this to Z-14. I heard there is a long discontinued Halston called Halston 101 or something but I never smelled it.

This was my daily wear in high school in the mid 80s

Great review! I agree this stuff is great and lasts easily 8 hours, and last days on clothes. Definitely signature scent worthy.

Love 1-12. Have worn it off and on since it was released in 1976. Your review was excellent and very accurate.

To me, Halston 1-12 smells comparable to typical dryer sheets. (That's not necessarily a bad thing, depending on what you're going for.) I don't find it to smell strong at all. It has good longevity, but has a lighter or weaker character more than a heavy or strong one. I actually consider it to be one of the most unique fragrances I've encountered, even though I have Azzaro Pour Homme and used to have Bogart Signature (both of which seem much bolder). I feel that 1-12 is soft and subtle. It has a fuzzy, vegetal, flannel-like, evasive, vaguely powdery quality to it (as though "Grey Flannel" might be an even more fitting name for THIS one than the Geoffrey Beene fragrance). It's unusually intriguing, but I don't find myself interested in wearing it very often.

Always a pleasure.... I'm surprised you didn't draw any similarities to Z-14. For me I feel like it was one of the mods they presented for Z-14 and didn't like it. Then released it anyway later lol .... Another Halston to look at. Amber Man. ✌🏻

This was my go-to fragrance in the 90s in highschool and junior highschool. Whenever I wanted nice fresh and a little sweet solid cologne I would splash a bit on.
