Nioh 1 + Nioh 2 PS5 Remastered Collection - Review

The Nioh Collection is the definitive way to play the series. And what if you haven’t ever played the games to begin with? Well, if you were even remotely interested, you owe it to yourselves to check this series out.

Nioh and Nioh 2 are fantastic action RPGs, and a wonderful take on the FromSoft Souls template, that actually do many things better than the pioneering Dark Souls series. And if you’re going to be trying these games out for the first time, the PS5 collection is the way to go – in every sense of the word, this is, truly, the definitive edition of these games.

Just finished the collection. All of the DLC. For the very first time, on the PS5. Hands down one of the best titles I've ever played. I'm a Souls fan, but I loved the story, combat, and unique mechanics that set it apart from the Souls series! Highly recommend, but be prepared to die a lot. If you have no grit, you might end up soul crushed, like I was. Don't be afraid to step away for a few months and come back to it when you're ready.

Load times weren't really an issue for Nioh games lol, it literally takes a few seconds to load when you die

3:04 wrong the 4k mode is native 4k 60fps where did you get the idea that it's dynamic 4k the checkerboard 4k 60fps mode is the standard mode

Nioh 2 load time are like 2 secs on ps4 when you die

I started this collection last month and all I can say is wow, such a beautifully made classic, everything about NIOH is just perfect

For anyone watching this and wondering how the 120 mode is, it is nearly perfect. There will be occasional drops in FPS, but it will normally stutter for less than a second, another think I noticed is a small amount of pop in which isn’t that bad, but occasionally noticeable. But for the frame rate at 120, it’s worth getting this version of the games.

Nioh and Nioh 2 are the perfect games for people who like FromSoft and technical controls. Learning to properly use stances and ki pulse etc. gives the game a technical depth that feels really good to master.

"Souls-like" games so often disappoint me after a brief honeymoon period—Mortal Shell, Ashen, Jedi Fallen Order, etc.—but Nioh is one of the few Souls-like games that I felt really nailed it.

Worth coming back for the DLCs? Beat both games before he dlc for either came out and never went back to play them. I’d be starting from scratch with the remasters.

Not sure if it was because I had the game downloaded from PS Now. But I was not able to transfer my save progress to the complete editions PS5 combo that I got. But thankfully I was only at the burning village area.

You're just flat out being dishonest in this video. I dont remember Nioh 1 too much, but Nioh 2 had extremely fast loading times! When you died you'd be back in the action within seconds. You literally made up it taking up to a minute long...

I just started the PS5 version of Nioh remastered. It appears to have been censored since the original. There is now no blood staining the environment which kills some of the immersion. A strange change when dismemberment and character staining is still present. I wonder if this somehow slipped through the cracks or if it is by design!?

I think the other big thing that this review doesn't go over well is the DLC. You are getting nearly a whole game's worth of DLC for both games included and now it's on sale at Best Buy for $20. Two full complete modern games for that price is always great!
