This song was originally written and performed by Gary Valenciano entitled "Why Did You Close Your Eyes So Soon?" as a tribute song to the late Julie Vega in 1985. In 1987, he rewritten this song with Tagalog lyrics by his wife, Angeli Pangilinan, with the same music and arrangement by him as "Sana Maulit Muli" which is his signature romantic love song in Tagalog.
