The 'Problem' With Vilano Bikes

I really do love my Vilano Diverse 4.0, it's a pretty decent bike - BUT ... if you are thinking of buying one, you may want to be aware of my experience with Vilano's customer service before you lay down your hard-earned money for one.

You should probably remove this video. I was at the 10 minute mark and it was so excruciating that I scrolled down the comments and found that you discovered "the noise was normal during breakin and went away after a few months." Serious waste of time.

I went to the doctor and said "Doc, when I lift my arm like this, it hurts.". Doc said "Don't lift your arm like that." Everything was fine from then on. I have this bike too. Love it.

Great video, vilano really dropped the ball. I contacted regarding sizing and received a canned response (not helpful). Definitely not a customer service company.

Your kidding right, Vilano has about the best deals going on. How about three times more for the same thing. The vilano road bike deals through Walmart are so good that only people that don't ride would consider it substandard. This China bashing is absurd knowing everything is made there. Trying to make it look like junk that your only using it for parts is because you didn't put it up against a comparable bike. There is nothing wrong with the bike other than a backpedaling clicking noise. Walmart has the deals on Vilano and they are extremely good.

Thanks for another great review. I concur with your experiences with Bike Direct. Before I ordered my bike from Amazon I contacted the distributor with a inquiry for buying a spare belt. Their response did not instill any confidence at all and they have to step up their game in terms of customer support. The price was too hard to resist and I ordered it knowing I would be on my own with any issues. My rear hub is still clicking and the sound seemed to originate at the bottom bracket. I pulled the crank arms and discovered my Shimano spline socket for bottom bracket removal was not a good match to the Vilano sealed bottom bracket and I would risk shearing the splines. I don't have a hot clue what was used for the BB but will inquire at local bike shops to find a compatible tool. Still have trouble getting the front disc rotor to run quiet. I'll add some more miles before adjusting it again. In the final analysis I'm still happy with my purchase @ $479.00 and recommend the 4.0 with it's imperfections. Dude, you said yourself you want to find out if the sound is normal and then you questioned what Vilano and a bike shop could discuss that you couldn’t discuss yourself with Vilano. That’s it, the bike shop might say the sound is normal so you don’t make any sense.

I have owned the exact same bike for about 3 years now. Mine makes the same noice when backpedaling...but it's quiet when pedaling through the gears.
I do have some noise coming from the crank-set. I plan on pulling it apart soon to see if it needs some grease or replace it. Other than that problem...I love the bike. Esp the fact of no oily chain messing up the car when hauling it.

Bull . Theres tons of info. My issue . I wanted to buy the 3.0 diverse and its normal cost was 300 -350 but since theyre out of stock everywhere now, the few places they do have them they list at 650 or more.
