One of my most favorites when I was about 20. Now I'm 72. In those old days many young men actually seemed to not catch the real meaning of this song. Sometimes they just liked to sing it out loudly and even joyfully. Obviously they mistook the meaning of this song by the lyrics of Mary's lips and people's warming welcome when he came back home. But I always felt sad even I was young whenever I sang it. The last part is where the heavy punch laid. I had sung this song hundreds times. This is a song of my age. Very nostalgic.
