I believe with the hand holding the cards he’s using his thumb to very slightly slide back the top card. Exposing the second card to deal. It’s the only sensible thing to me, but he does it so incredibly smooth. Well done!

maybe from the top? it seems as though your left thumb is moving the top card out of the way for the right to take the second card, but i don't know wether to be sure or not

For the people who didnt realize, he pulls the ace back a bit to pull the second card out

I think that with his thumb he moves the first card just a little bit and with his right hand he picks the second card, while he holds the first one with the thumb he moved it
