I have a potted plant in the corner of a build. It has vines. I don't want the vines to move onto the wall, but I can't block off that wall without blocking it off from the leaves I'm using.

is there anyway to let the vines hang in the air but stop them and only let them come down to where you want

Yeah the way vines disappear if you put a block above it is actually a bug and it was fixed in 1.13
