The Johannesburg-based all-star band Uhadi joined us in New York in April 2014 to celebrate 20 years of democracy in South Africa. While here, they helped introduce us to various forms of South African Jazz, including Cape Town's Ghoema.

This rhythm seems directly comparable with a Malfuf rhythm from the Middle East (I guess, hence the Sufi connection)….. it’s all music, means that we can all play together!!😊👍

I'd love an answer to this - how does this Ghoema rhythm differ to the Soca rhythm? Or are they the same?
