Is the Synod trying to abandon moral absolutes? (Why it won't happen)

The press is reporting on the findings of one of the study groups at the on-going Synod, and at least a diminished emphasis on moral absolutes is being discussed. This much is compatible with Church teaching, but a total removal of moral absolutes is impossible given what the Church has already taught.
