Overhead Line Inspection System - Indian Railways: Industrial Automation

Problem: Due to weather and other factors, the alignment of the track with the pantograph and therefore the overhead line changes. This leads to scenarios where the overhead line can break and lead to catastrophes. Older line inspection systems were manual and labourious.

Solution: The system you see in this video analyses the contact of the pantograph with the overhead lines in real-time to ensure that the wires make contact within the safe range specified. Another factor that can lead to breakage of wires is the height of the wire from the pantograph, which is also being monitored.
