The dreaded moonballer has a house full of trophies because everyone hates to play them. It can be very frustrating trying to hit balls up around your earlobes.
One of my subscribers recently asked me, ‘how do you play those balls’?
In today’s video, Stephanie and I give you 4 different options against the moonball.
Option #1 – Take the ball before the bounce you’re taking time away from your opponent by moving forward and being aggressive. This works very well against the moonball.
Option #2 – Take the ball on the rise. This again takes time away from your opponent because you’re taking the ball earlier giving your opponent less time to get ready for your return.
Option #3 – Turn and skip back and let the ball drop into a comfortable hitting zone. This is probably the safest option but, make sure when you hit back aim high and hit it hard otherwise your shot may land short giving your opponent offensive options.
Option #4 – Slice the high one back. This one is really a last resort but the bottom line is get it back and make your opponent hit another ball to beat you.
So, options 1 and 2 should be shots you’ll want to develop to be successful against the moonballer. However, there’s nothing wrong with using options 3 and 4 when you need to.
All the best, to your success against the moonball,
Tom
