This is my review of LEGO 76417 Gringotts™ Wizarding Bank – Collectors' Edition, a highly sought after model fans wanted for years, though they got a little more than what they asked for...

Thank you LEGO for sending this set for review. Views and opinions are my own.

The vault should've been handled like the rancor pit for Jabba's palace. A cool addition for those who want it but not mandatory for those who don't.

6:39 There is actually a black 2x2 plate included to connect the tracks. The instructions have you place it at the side of the cart track in case you don’t connect it to the main set.

That multiplying goblet feature is really well done

I cant believe you didn't mention the front sign sticker, although you did show it. It is probably the worst sticker use i have ever seen, and is such an eyesore in the heart of the build.

I'm kinda impressed by reviewers stubbornly refusing to acknowledge the "Gringot TS Bank" issue that is literally front and centre on the build...

9:19 it’s the alternative mine cart build from the first Gringotts (4714). At the end of its instructions is this alternative build - so another easter egg referencing 4714 😊

Tha blackboard at 9:18 is a reference to one of the alternative builds for the original Gringotts bank set from the original wave.

i’m so glad they added the minecart system and the vaults it makes the set so unique and creative

Place Diagon and Gringotts on a shelf, preferably a corner shelf. Then display the underground on the shelf under Gringotts. You have to have a multi shelf setup but it’s possible to display these nicely. There’s multiple ways to display with Diagon Alley

I’ll be putting gringotts with diagon alley on the top of my kallax shelf and the vault underneath so there is at least some spatial consistency. Best solution I can think of. Great review!

I respect that you've highlighted the questionable decision to include the minecart system. Most other reviewers seem to be fine with it as the price per part is reasonable and the design is cool, but to me that is missing the point. As impressive as the design is the inclusion of the bottom half of the model is forcing those who just want a Gringotts to go with their Diagon Alley to pay twice what they otherwise would have. As a result many who might have wanted the set now won't be able to afford it or justify purchasing it. The set could easily have been split in 2 to keep everyone happy, and i suspect the only reason this was not done is because Lego know few people would choose to pay the extra for the minecart system if it was optional. If that is the case one has to wonder why they would choose to include the bottom half. It seems to me like the main reason it exists is as an underhanded way to charge people a premium to complete their Diagon Alley, which really isn't cool.

Your reviews are always amazing!! Even sets that I didn’t like originally become sets I now really like!!! Great job!!!

I don't have any interest in Harry Potter, but I do like the look of the bank building. The way they've been able to have it stand on top of that vault "tree" without any wobbling (?) is also impressive. I don't like that sticker on the front, though, let alone for such an expensive set: "GRINGOT TS BANK"?!

The sticker at 9:17 shows one of the alternate builds for the original gringotts set, as pointed out to me by @CheeseyStudios

The front stickers could be trimmed before placing. "GRINGOT TS BANK" Bringing the 2 T's together.

My plan is to have the set on top of a low cabinet combined with the Diagon Alley and then when I open the cabinet door below it will reveal the underground part below the bank.

I haven't really been interested in the Harry Potter sets, but I appreciate the review. I'm curious how they'll use the stand effect in future modular sets, if at all. It's a pretty cool effect, and there's potential for it. Maybe a Wayne Manor set that has a Batcave underneath, for example.
The coins also have my attention, since Mario themed ones will be included with the upcoming Piranha Plant build that comes out in November. It could be the start of a new collectable item that they pack in to various sets.

Great review, and very valid point about not being able to purchase the bank without the underground section.

The designer really amped up the details on this one. Very impressive.

I love how almost every lego set has a hidden frog or uses frogs for the most random stuff
