It's the little details... the leaves moving only to his feet as he slides through the forest, the grandma blinking twice as she checks the photo of her two grandchildren but only once when she checks the photo with one person, the luger grandma whips out as memorabilia from her late husband

He pulls this heist not for chaos, but because he loves that grandma so much. He loves her more than the children do because, in the face of adversity, he was willing to convince her to give him her love, whereas the children simply run away. When he shows up, the first thing he does is help grandma set the table with his magical sandwich bread, before chasing off the children. What was the first thing the children did? Run past grandma and take her sweets, her treats that she had prepared. She wasn't prepared for that much enthusiasm that she was unwilling to reciprocate that much love, which is why she is put off when he goes for the kiss. She only pulls out the luger when she sees the evidence of tampering, but I hope I've made my case that he was a better grandchild to her than her real ones.

The best part is that this is a "silent narration". You're essentially watching a silent film, without realizing it. Visual storytelling at its finest. Unpredictable and enticing plot every time. Charismatic main character existing in a meta universe where laws of reality are slightly twisted.
