Pilot shares story of landing jumbo jet safety after engine failure

A pilot shares his story after he successfully brought his more than 300 passengers to safety when one of the plane's engines suffered a technical glitch.

Fellow filo are great in any chaotic situation. kahit sa terrorist attack ng pal during 90s, kahit pag dating sa mga seafarers sobrang minimum ng mga casualty kahit lumubog na yung barko. I'm trying to say na tayong Pilipino sobrang resilient at mabilis makaadapt sa nangyayari. on other hand madami kakulangan ang facility tulad ng nangyari dito s apal na engine failure. kung mag sasabay ang makina at mga quality na tao ng pilipinas siguradong todo angat tayo kapwa ko pilipino

I was there! I saw the whole event unfold in front of me as I watched planes from Clutter's Park just off the South side of LAX and Imperial Hwy. The 777 was only 30 feet off the ground when the right engine begin to flame and loudly pop. The flame and popping would come and go repeatedly as the 777 slowly gained altitude and finally banked left to the South with the landing gear still down. 15 minutes later the 777 reappeared from the east and successfully landed and taxied under its own power to the far West end of LAX and out of view. Great flying by the crew!
