Показать описание
Please join CSIS and the U.S. Naval Institute for a Maritime Security Dialogue event featuring General David H. Berger, Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. General Berger and Dr. Seth G. Jones, CSIS Senior Vice President and Director of the International Security Program, will discuss the current state of the Marine Corps, future demands, and the implications on force posture and force design.
The Maritime Security Dialogue series brings together CSIS and the U.S. Naval Institute, two of the nation's most respected non-partisan institutions. The series highlights the particular challenges facing the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, from national level maritime policy to naval concept development and program design. Given budgetary challenges, technological opportunities, and ongoing strategic adjustments, the nature and employment of U.S. maritime forces are likely to undergo significant change over the next ten to fifteen years. The Maritime Security Dialogue provides an unmatched forum for discussion of these issues with the nation’s maritime leaders.
General David H. Berger has served as Commandant of the Marine Corps since July 2019. He commanded at every level – including a Reconnaissance Company; 3d Battalion, 8th Marines in Haiti during Operation Secure Tomorrow; Regimental Combat Team 8 in Fallujah, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. As a General Officer, he commanded 1st Marine Division (Forward) in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom; I Marine Expeditionary Force; U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific/Fleet Marine Forces Pacific; and Marine Corps Combat Development Command. General Berger holds a B.S. in Engineering from Tulane University, a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, and a M.S. in Military Studies. His personal awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and Combat Action Ribbon.
