Anime filter has never been this good before, the jump in quality just surprised me. If you have seen UGATIT (basically selfie2anime), you would know how AnimeGANv2 just kicked everyone out of the competition. I would say though, AnimeGANv2 is less of a strong converter, since the strength of edits aren't as much. The result it gives doesn't really fit the classic anime simplicity, but I think it can still be regard as anime filter because of its visual style.

These results don't read as "anime" or "toon" but it does a good job of actually looking like a hand-made illustration. I'm impressed especially at how it looks in motion too. I was imagining pairing this with EbSynth to make animations, but it's not even necessary. This kind of AI could easily lead to big waves in the animation industry.

itd be cool seeing this be used to help create avatars in VR games/ the “metaverse”. Making the avatars too realistic seems like it’ll break immersion unless the avatars and the way they act are identical to real life. However if you make avatars similar to these, the experience will be much smoother and less disorienting.
