One night, during Patti LuPone's run playing Mama Rose in Gypsy, a light bulb exploded during a scene set on a stage. While thankfully no one was injured, there were shards of glass scattered on the stage. Without missing a beat, she goes backstage, comes back with a push broom, and commences to clean up the shards while muttering about having to do everything herself around there! It was hilarious! 😂

During college, back in the late '70s, had a friend who wrote a very nice letter to Patti while she was in Evita on Broadway. He and a friend were coming to see the show, he was interested in musical theater, etc. She wrote back and invited them to come backstage to see her after the show! They had a wonderful visit with Patti, and she was most gracious with her time and advice. A true legend!

I know he’s done this a bunch of other times (and might just be his regular wardrobe now) but there’s something comforting about Seth being in a sweatshirt/sweater(?) behind the desk rather than a suit and tie which tends to be more common for late night talk show hosts. Patti is THE ICON! I know she had a horrible experience with Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber, but I saw her in the ORIGINAL Evita with Mandy Patankin and I will ALWAYS remember her for that more than anything else I've seen her in. she was so young, and SO powerful and amazing! She commanded that stage like she had already won 5 Tony awards! She has every right to be a little cocky.

I live on a 44 foot sailboat in Honolulu. Every full moon we sailed off Waikiki to watch the moon ascend. It was SO bright!
