I think when you draw lines or flowers you should do tiny lines would show more details

My mother was a Potter for years, she used to do leaf impressions in the top of plates with pressing in old leaves and then removing them before firing, it's a delicate task but they looked really nice! If you have dark stain i found it makes it pop further aswell.

You should give it a try! (Its also easiest on something like a plate, but you easily could make a vase then press gently the leaves into it too!
