This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences.

Simone Rossi, MD, PhD, is Neurologist and Neurophysiologist, and is currently the director of the Brain Investigation & Neuromodulation Lab at the Department of Neuroscience, Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology Unit, Azienda Ospedaliera-Universitaria of Siena, Italy, where he is also leading the Parkinson’s Disease and movement disorders clinical activity.

He has two national Associate professorship habilitations, in Neurology and in Human Physiology.

Dr. Simone Rossi has authored 107 publications on peer-reviewed scientific journals indexed by Current Contents-Life Science (and 9 chapters in books), with an overall Impact Factor of about 403 (mean per publication: 4), H-index: 39. He has more than 5300 citations.

He is currently listed at the rank n° 79 among the “Top 100 Italian Scientists”.

He is member of the Editorial Board of “Behavioural Neurology”, of “Brain Stimulation”, of ISNR Neurology and of Clinical Neurophysiology and is President of the Italian Society of Psychophysiology. He is also occasional reviewer of 73 international scientific journals in neurology, neurophysiology, psychiatry and neuroscience areas (including Nature Reviews Neurology, Neurology, Annals of Neurology, J. Neurosci., Trends in Cogn. Sci., Curr. Biol., Biol. Psychiatry, Am. J. Psychiatry, etc…..). He is Referee for the Medical Research Council (MRC) UK, for The French National Research Agency (ANR) and for the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.

Dr. Simone Rossi is –or has been- granted as Unit Leader in many Italian research projects and is responsible of the local neuroscientifc aspects in two European granted projects in Robotics (with Prof. Domenico Prattichizzo).

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
