Learn how to add a search bar in your WordPress menu step by step. Adding a search bar, search icon, and search form in WordPress menu is a quick and easy process using the Ivory search plugin.

To start, I'm here in the WordPress dashboard. Hover over the plugins tab in the left side menu. Click add new plugin. In the search field, type in Ivory Search. You'll see the Ivory Search plugin showing here. Click the install now button to install the plugin. Once it is done installing, click the activate button. Once it is done activating, you'll be on the never miss an important update page.

I'll click the skip button to proceed. Next in the left side menu. Hover over Ivory Search and click Settings. Stopwords is where you can add stopwords that will not be searched. Synonyms is where you can make the searches find better results. If you click Header Search, you can select Form to Display and Site Header, not the Name.

From the dropdown, you can select what you want. I'll choose Default Search Form for mine. Footer Search is where you can select a footer search to show in the footer of your site. Mobile search is where you can toggle this on to display the search form in the site header on mobile devices. If you talk this to on, you'll see another option where you want to toggle this on if you're using caching on your site.

Custom CSS is if you need to add some custom CSS to the search bar form. When you're done, Click the save button. Next, click menu search in the left menu. You'll see you can toggle on to display search form on selected menu locations. I want mine to show in the primary menu at the top of my site. You can select what you like for the different menus on your site.

Once you select one, click the save button. You'll see more customization options for the search bar. You can choose to display the search form at the start of the navigation menu. You can select a menu search form style. I'll show you an example of each. Here's the default search form. Here's the drop down search form.

Here's the sliding search form. Here's the full width search form. And here's the pop up search form. I'll choose drop down. If you choose the default settings above, These two settings I go over won't show. Next, you can select the menu magnifier, search icon color. You can toggle off. Display search form close icon if you'd like.

I'll change the menu form style to default. I'll click the save button. I'll now pull up a view of my WordPress website and you'll see the search icon, search bar, and search form is now showing in the WordPress menu based on the settings I just chose.

That is how to add search bar in WordPress menu.
