What you need:
-Baking Soda
-Cell phone charger
-Bucket
-Copper Wire
-Piece of wood
-Electrical tape
-Sacrificial Metal (Something you don't care about)

Please be safe when you re doing Electrolysis. This is electricity in water with metal! Be safe!
Chemical reactions can occur and make dangerous fumes, please do in a well ventilated area or/and wear a mask.

P.S. At 1:04 you said Washing Soda (aka sodium carbonate) which I believe is correct. Later you said baking soda :-) Honestly, I think either will work, or even just salt for that matter will work as well.

Do you prefer baking soda over Washing Soda? I've been doing the electrolysis process for a minute now my main issue is that somewhere in between being done with electrolysis and scrubbing I see Maker's Mark /writing that I end up losing in that process. It's frustrating because I want to find out what some objects might be and others I do know what they are possible dates and I know there are identifying markings on them. I want to know what the best method of electrolysis or for that matter any kind of oxidation removal without compromising the detail of the object. I will say that that axe head is not very crusty at all I don't think I've ever dug an ax that look that nice.

The black coating on the negative side is ferrous oxide, having been replaced chemically from the iron oxide ( ferric oxide -- rust). Always make sure the rusty part (axe head, etc ) is hooked to the negative terminal so it works properly. Also, washing soda is Sodium Carbonate, not bicarbonate (baking soda -- they are NOT the same thing). Haven't tried the baking soda, don't know if it works as well as the Carbonate version. Any comments ? Bob

By the way you forget to mention the powder in the description.
You said baking soda(sodium bicarbonate), but sodium bicarbonate is not an electrolytic reactant. It should be sodium carbonate.

Washing soda and baking soda are two different things. What must to be used for this is, Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda.
