Xanthi Greece Thrace

Xanthi is a city in Thrace in northern Greece, 206 km from Thessaloniki. It has a rich history, tradition and customs, and is the cultural center of the area where Christians and Muslims have peacefully coexisted for centuries. It has been called "The city of the thousand colors". The symbol of the city is the King George Square and the old Clock. The city is intersected by the river Kosynthos and in the north of the city, there is a beautiful pine forest. It is worth visiting during the famous Carnival, one of the most popular in Greece, and also the Old Town Festival at the beginning of September. Furthermore, the bazaar of Xanthi is famous and takes place at Emporiou Square every Saturday and the Manos Hatzidakis' Festival attracts worldwide interest. There are many hotels for visitors to stay and admire the liveliness of this city.
