I really enjoy this song. Mostly because of how lonely the words are, but how joyful the piano is in comparison. Like the piano is the person on the outside. You think from the beginning tune that this song is going to be happy, but after listening to how lonely the person sounds... it just reminds me every time I moved to a new place and had to deal with being alone again.
Really resonates with me.

Goddammit, this song... _When Marnie Was There_ is my personal favorite Ghibli movie because, well, I'm all about the feels when it comes to anime. The film has a beautiful emotional climax. I shed tears. Then the story ends on a happy note. I shed more tears. Then this song starts playing, and it's sad. I can just manage to see the subtitles through my tears. And then, when I expect the lyrics to gradually turn towards something happy in the end, they never do. I want to punch this song for being so incredibly sad and staying that way until the very end.

I remember listening to this when I was 11 years old, feeling like I could relate in a few ways but I didn’t really understand the meaning of the song. Now I come back five years later, definitely not the same person but despite that the song moves me in a such deep way, because I realise in what hurtful ways I can still relate to this song today.

I've been listening to this song constantly for about a week and a half now. This song is amazing because it sounds so beautiful but it speaks such sad lyrics, and that contrast is something that a lot of people can relate to. Lots of people may be sad, but we're all truly beautiful. Everyone is unique, and being unique is what makes you what you are- you! No one deserves to feel like they're lonely or isolated. I can guarantee that theres someone out there who *would* care for you if you disappeared, and I for one would be sad if I ever found out. It hurts to see someone feel so bad about themselves, but like I said before, everyone is beautiful in their own unique way. Please reach out to someone if you ever feel lonely. You never know what that little push can do for you, and it may even find you a new friend.

Holy shit. This brought back memories. This movie was so beautiful.
I've always wanted to live in a place like where Anna went. Just peaceful, with a forest, a small cozy place where everyone knows eachother, getting ready to row out across a lake at midnight, with the moon in the background. Being in the city id cool and all, but I just wish I could experience something like this, more quiet.
To those who haven't watched this film, PLEASE do. It's so amazing, and played a part in my childhood. It's so amazing, one of my most favourite Ghibli films out there. It's so amazing, highly reccomend.
I'm 5 years late, but thank you for making this Lizz. Your voice sounded beautiful as always!
