Other Gear used:

The Behringer Brains is a brand new digital multi-engine oscillator module which features 20 unique digital oscillators, 10 different synth engines, 10 noise and percussion engines and 16 mutable instruments plaits engines! But the Behringer Brains is not the original model, it is a take on Plaits by Mutable Instruments, so the only question is what are the differences? And is one better than the other?

But why didn't you use a Behringer Keystep to play the Behringer Plaits?

Penishead had a sound comparision, and both sounds quite similar.
I will still buying this one.

I must say that, apart from the Behringer shittery, the little oscilloscope is nice!

Modular is a great way manufacturers have come up with to take more of your money

I would bet 1000$ that in a blind test, most of the people who are saying that the original Plaits sounds “better, HiFi and cleaner” would say the is digital, cold and sterile” and the Behringer “warmer” and “more analog” 😄.
I think the cognitive bias had a important role on this comparison.

Ah, you have a YouTube channel...You know blue lantern did a plaits too (mycelium synth) I just got an order from your shop(fourplay). Good stuff! And thankyou.

It seems like the Timber doesn't change the sound as much on Brains.

I love how Jack mispronounced it 'plates' even though I'm sure he knew how to pronounce it correctly at the time of filming - get that question out of the way for the uninitiated in the most humble way possible, what a gent!

I honestly dont get the hate in the comments like.. if you want to buy Behringer stuff buy it and if not.. then dont :D Their stuff isnt better or worse, it depends on what you want, and if someone wants the "original" braids than go get it and if you want a braids with more HP, an oscilloscope and (imo) uglyier faceplate for half the price then go get that :D cheers

Both sounds like farts, but listen : MI sounds more dry farts, Behringer sounds more wet farts

I like how the behringer doesn't sound as hifi and clean crisp...I made hard industrial techno and like how it's more distorted and harsh...Behringer ALL THE WAY

Plaits sound quality comes across much more hi fi and clear. Behringer sounds like a distorted mess.

Wish they were actually available to buy :-( Is this down to the global chip shortage?

Anything like Make Noise Brains? At least use an original module name. Why not call it Plaits?

Behringer Haters: "Brains sounds shit in comparison!"

Normal People: "Both sound the same to me"

Haters will hate it. Fanboys will love it. Some musicians may actually USE it.
