We book with an agent. You're right. It's the personal touch you get with an agent. You get to know them, they know you. My agent is AWESOME!

...You can book everything via number on line select a cruise, cabin, and itinerary ... on line and the price... changes tho are harder to make than a travel agent ...

Direct, but I'm not opposed to using a travel agent. It seems like TAs seem to get better cruise perks (higher onboard credit, photo and drink package savings, in-cabin gifts... etc) for their clients.

My mom is a travel agent so she books through herself so she can get commission from it

I used to use a TA, but she wasn’t really good with taking care of us. So I switched to direct booking with the company.

I used to book directly at RCCL because I was offered 100 Dollar onboard if I booked during the phone call. Alas, this is not allowed by the company any more.

I always look on the website but I use an agent. Safer I think and yes discounts too.

Always go to Vacations to Go or USAA travel. Great pricing!

I book through Costco. Get all the cruise deals and kickbacks with a Costco gift card after we take the cruise.

Booking directly with the cruise line is for amateurs. A TA will always have at least the cruise line’s price or better plus often extra onboard credit.

Especially when I book Royal Caribbean or Celebrity I book early with a TA and they have group rates that are sometimes half what the cruise line price is. I recently booked a Celebrity balcony and it was less than what Celebrity was offering the inside for, PLUS it has the drinks, internet and gratuities package.

Please someone refer me to a travel agent that can get me a good deal because truthful speaking the price aways seem to be higher with them yes I agree most of them do try to get you what you want but if you compare the rates to booking it yourself there is a sagnificant price difference .

I just book direct I don't see a point and adding another Link in the chain. And every discount they can get you can get by yourself. And who knows better of a vacation that I want then me

adding a middleman does not seem like a sustainable way to achieve lower prices. Come to think of it, it does not make any sense. That is why they probably walk away from the business. If you are to earn a sustainable income then you would have to have such an extensive clientele that the touch would not be personal anymore. I would say a TA would make sense for all parties involved only if used as a premium service and paid as such.
