I bought a GBC for a laugh and something to do in 2020 after watching one of your restoration videos. Now I have a GBC, DMG, Pocket, a Game Gear, a modded 3DS and a professional Walkman to listen to the 100 tapes I bought in an eBay job lot. You created an enthusiast mate, awesome videos.

I live in Japan and your videos got me back into the GBA!

Planning to make an "ultimate" mod GBA to play all kinds of GameBoy * games, I bought two consoles on Yahoo!Auctions a week ago.
Both untested, one didn't turn on, but after cleaning the switch, it turns out it had an IPS screen already!
Pretty good deal, though I guess a tad expensive for non tested GBAs, if I include shipping (that the seller refused to group...)

Guess I'll have to be ready to compete on auctions with you then!

Now I need to get new shells, battery kits, some clean power and amp kits, then I really want to try an ITA TFT screen on the second one!

I can't imagine spending that much on video games, at most 500. And it would have to be some rare game I really want to play, otherwise I would emulate.

I had an original gameboy (from 1989 I believe) and over the years got various aftermarket accessories, such as the magnifying lens. It took it's own batteries and would also light up, to help you see the screen. The lens was so thick (like the thickest glasses you'd ever see) and it made the screen quite blurry. Pretty sure it did my eyes more harm than good! A few years back, my parents sold their family home and all my gameboy collection went in the house clearance. Absolutely gutted, but your videos help bring back some nostalgia!

The protective shield on the JAL console: I believe with the JAL Gameboy, before the flights started, they would load a game onto the console for you to play on the flight (as the consoles were able to be rented on a JAL flight and given back at the end of the journey), and the protective shield was there to stop you putting your own games in.
This was explained to me by some of my collector friends, and I do trust their knowledge, but we may not be 100% correct.

I just found out about this thing called the Visteon Gameboy advance dvd player. I feel like this thing never existed until now, like someone smuggled it in from another dimension haha.

Persistence, patience, and discipline. Keep looking, be patient, and know your limit. I lose a lot of auctions but eventually I'll get that item later in the future. If I'm lucky, I'll get it cheaper.
