She died and he could not find himself in her diary as if he did not exist. She could not find herself in the mirror since she died and do not exist anymore. He wonder if he should kill himself to prove his love but it will be in vain since he realised they were not on the same page after reading her diary. Some people view it as symbolic for a past relationship and the guy would kill himself emotionally just to be with Jane. Other viewpoint is that Jane was never interested in a relationship with him but he will do anything to be by her side, however I think it is unlikely, since he got to read her diary, which he could only get to read if she died. Thus, unlikely that he killed her for a reason like she refusing to be with him - there would have been no reason to read her diary then.

Jane Bryan was a female filmstar in the 1930s and 1940s. She was in many films, including We Are Not Alone, which is also the title for Breaking Benjamin's second album. This song was also based on the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

I heard a theory that the singer was in love with someone who cheated on him and then killed herself, so the song is him reading her diary and discovering all of the nasty stuff, trying to figure out how to react and where he would fit in that mess- I’m not sure if it’s true, but damn that’d be pretty painful if it was

The Video: She commited suicide. She was a ghost or lost sole in the video and didn't know she was dead. He loved her but she did not love him and he morned over her death. He was hoping he would find love or thoughts about him in her diary.

my interpretation of the music video is, that the guy tried so hard to be together with her, but she just didn't want to, so in the end he freaked out and killed her, hence why he's standing at her grave (I think?) with her diary.
