I adore PERSUASION. Alas the netflix adaptation was very disappointing. I quite like doing something startling and original with classics, especially the oft-adapted ones. But it doesn't always work. No real complaints about the cast, though.

The problem is Persuasion is not a comedy. It can work with something like Emma, but it just doesn’t work with Persuasion.

Yes, you’re not the only one who thinks Jane Austen novels are comedic. The screenplay for the film adaptation of “Emma” in the 1990s starring Gwyneth Paltrow was written with that same mindset!

Persuasion if my favourite Austen novel so I was very disappointed with this latest version as Anne was unrecognisable. The actors were aĺl fine but the script was unbelievably bad.
