"O Holy Night" (originally called "Cantique de Noël") is a beautiful Christmas Carol normally sung on Christmas Eve. This prayerful carol sung by a soloist with piano and lyrics, reflects on the birth of Jesus as humanity's redemption.

O Holy Night is based on an 1843 French-language poem by poet Placide Cappeau that composer Adolphe Adam set to music in 1847. The English version is by John Sullivan Dwight. The version sung in this video was arranged by Sally DeFord.

For me it is a Christmas carol that has has become a daily hymn, I'm in my mid seventies and some days I'm not always feeling the best, I find singing "Oh Holy Night" to myself during the day and at night when I cant sleep too well so comforting!!!! It makes me feel closer to the Lord!!!

My Dad's cousin sang 'O Holy Night' and sometimes 'Minuit Chrétien' at midnight Mass at St. Patrick's Basilica in Ottawa for 40 - 50 years! There was rarely a dry eye in the church during his beautiful homage to the Birth of Christ. The soloist and the Saturday 5 PM Choir has performed this most beautiful Christmas Carol as touchingly and respectfully. Thank you! God bless you!
