I happened to look out the window the other day and our cat did exactly the same thing and then strutting around like a big shot. he just chases squirrels but he does catch mice for us. Tony the tiger.

That's a sorry hunter ;) FWIW All of my female tabby where like 10x better hunter than the males. I can only gather that since amom has to provide for her and any kittens they naturally are better hunters. My sorry male cats can only hunt a bowl of wet cat food 😹

That cat was just the wrong breed. My neice has a bengal cat and that boy catches squirrels like nothing.
