Philosophy Tube x Xanderhal | Speculation of Trans Identity

Guess the Xander could be slandered after all.
I decided not to include the "listen to the oppressed groups"" in this video because while I agree with the sentiment, that's a phrase that the target(s) of this video wouldn't accept as an argument on its own merit.

Hello ! I am a leftist, not an SJW Liberal, and I like to make Political videos. I like to debunk far right conservative and reactionary youtubers like Blaire White, Arielle Scarcella, TheQuartering, Joe Biden, Steven Crowder and Ben Shapiro! and teach about LGBT issues, trans issues, Non-Binary (nonbinary) issues, politics, cancel culture, get woke go broke, socialism, and anarchism. I make scripted videos not livestreams like Vaush or Xanderhal or Destiny. I also talk about men's rights issues.

You shouldn’t speculate on someone’s gender or sexuality publicly, and saying “I called it!” shifts the proud moment of coming out and makes it all about you. I’ll be honest, I’ve had people who’ve pinged my “egg-dar” so to speak, but I don’t go talking about it to people on a freaking public platform because that shit can be dangerous! They might not be able to come out because it might not be safe for them to! I don’t really know this guy, so I can’t make any comments on his character, but I do know publicly speculating like that is invasive, and can actively put people in harm if the wrong person comes across it. Hopefully he learns better.

Yeah, it's kinda cringe that he made Abigail's coming out about him and his galaxy brain. "Look at how smart I was, I knew it all along" basically

"Ms.. Tube" is just adorable

This isn't a complete parallel, but I'd like to know if people agree. I think telling people when they come out to you "I always/for a while knew" is quite disrespectful. Gender identity is really complicated and most trans and non binary people struggle with truly finding their place on the spectrum for a long time, so telling them that you had deduced it with your incredibly limited view into their mind comes across as hugely condescending to me. Not sure if I'm alone with that.

Yeah, 100% agree. I am a fan of Xanderhal and I am trans. Right after Philosophy tube’s video came out, Xan made a drunk live reaction video to Abby’s video. In his live reaction he went on a whole tangent about how he knew Abby was trans just because she expressed herself in gender non-conforming ways in the past. His whole little rant made me cringe a little because being gender non-conforming doesn’t automatically mean your secretly trans. When I was a “trans egg” (someone who is Trans who hasn’t admitted to themselves that they are trans) I did express myself in a gender non-conforming way and some trans people have a similar experiences to me but this is not universal among trans people.
Anyways, I think Xan deleted his tweet if I remember right. I hope he doesn’t make weird comments like that again. I don’t think he had any malicious intent, I just think he has some stereotypical ideas of what it means to be trans, deep down (“born in the wrong body”, “wearing dresses since I was 3”, etc.)

I have to admit all the comments on her videos (since her video where she came out as bi) that kept saying "Oh she'll be coming out as trans next!" really bothered me. Like gender non-conforming cis people don't exist.

I thought we were trying to move away from the strict gender binary??

Abigails coming out isn’t a scooby doo lets take off the mask of the bad guy moment. Being like I KNEW ALL ALONG!! Isn’t helpful at all like that could make Abigail really dysphoric about her appearance. Even me as a gay person If I come out and the person I come out to says “oh I knew all along” shows me you don’t really care abt my sexuality same for Abigail like her gender isn’t a guessing a game no ones gender or sexuality is. But I know his intentions weren’t bad at all. But he’s a public figure and saying that publicly rubs me the wrong way and shows me he’s immature.

Speaking from experience, my advice to everyone is that, if someone seems like they might be trans or "pings on your egg-dar" or whatever, keep that to yourself, especially if voicing that opinion could lead to material harm coming to them. If they do come out and you really want to inform them that you had your suspicions for whatever reason, do it privately, not in the middle of the internet equivalent of a cartoonishly overcrowded stadium. This goes double if you yourself are not transgender.
Or, to put it even simpler, don't be a dick about if your gut feeling was right or not, especially not in a public medium.

I used to mod for Xander. This kind of behavior is exactly why I left the community. He is often disrespectful and uncaring about how he talks about LGBT people

I would really appreciate it if people stopped calling feminine dudes eggs.

[algorithm] the idea of "egg-spotting" in this way is really gross and weird imo, and it supports a pretty limiting and exclusionary view of gender. Idk if I'm reading too deeply into this but Xanderhal's comments about Abigail hinge on the assumption that gender-nonconforming behavior in and of itself indicates that someone is trans, and while I'm sure there's a strong correlation between the two this framework sort of requires us to essentialize what it means for someone to be trans and ignore the fact that people who ID as cis are able to engage in nonconforming behavior or have nonconforming taste without being made "less cis" by it. In a way it feels like the same family of logic that a homophobic right-winger would use to claim that someone being interested in other guys is "less of a man" because of it. It's boiling someone's identity down to their ability (or desire) to live up to a specific archetype.

Beyond that it's just weird and gross to speculate about an actual person as if they were an anime character like that, especially when you have a pretty big platform, and especially when what you're speculating on could result in someone else being outed or facing public harassment. Overall not great on Xanderhal’s part

Calling Abi “Mrs. Tube” implies that she’s married and know I just want to know to whom.

This is a really great video! I think what Xander thought he was doing was congratulating Abigail for coming out but what it came across as was more of "aha! I was right all along and I've found you out!" Stuff like that just puts trans people (especially trans people who are stealth for whatever reason) under so much more pressure. As a trans person myself it is 100% my right to keep the knowledge that I am trans to myself and it is no one else's right to 'figure it out'. Trans people aren't some puzzle for people to pick apart and work out. Xander has no right to be doing that even if the trans person in question is a public figure or if other LGBTQA+ people were doing it too. It just comes across as plain creepy and rude.

i have distanced myself from Xan's content, because i have found consistently, that he is still immature, incohesive, and still has some reactionary tendencies, in the sense that like a teenager, he reacts without thinking if his reactions is worthy of being expressed or does it contradicted other stuff he believes in. it is a shame, but i find it hard to watch him. he actually became less bearable to me with time, even tho he claims he keeps improving.

Totally agree with you. This is a very cringey joke from Xan - which is possibly due in to the fact he’s often immature in a lot of social interactions, especially LGBT-related ones. Maybe that’s the byproduct of being a cishet man in a very gay space, but it really is an area that he should tread a little more carefully in.

I’m gonna be honest I had my suspicions about Philosophy Tube but like I kept my mouth shut cause it’s none of my business. I’m happy she’s about to come out on her own terms. Xan in general is kinda weird with trans people especially trans women idk it’s something I’ve noticed. His tweet kinda makes Abigail’s coming out all about him. Igufuifhf it’s weird.

I think one of the reasons why people think it’s ok to clock an LGBT person while they’re in the closet is because on the surface it isn’t the worst thing to say about an LGBT person. That being said, it’s still weird to say “oh I knew that you were (insert identity here)” or to openly suspect someone’s identity while having a platform. sometimes it feels like these suspicions are informed by stereotypes and it’s also creepy to constantly keep investigating someone’s identity like this. Xan is incredibly young, but this kinda behavior is just unwarranted and just poor. Really appreciated this vid!

Cool video. As a trans man I would feel really uncomfortable and scared if someone would speculate that I'm trans. Also I think It should be basic human decency that you don't speculate what someone's identity is.
Love your avatar btw.
