One of the best movies ever made. It’s about the war on drugs, it shows how ugly and violent drug abuse can be, yet it ends on such an innocent scene, which ironically also shows one of the best ways to fight drug abuse, which is caring and providing for our kids

What makes this scene so moving for me is how the camera is used to show Del Toro’s perspective, how everyone there - kids and adults alike - are involved in a healthy community-building activity (baseball) instead of drugs. It brings home how community is the real solution to the drug crisis, starting with what’s in your direct line of sight.

An epic cinematic ending to what was a long harsh and horrible journey through the chaotic and nightmare fueled war on drugs. This ending serves as a reminder that it is strictly imperative that we must do everything in our power protect our children from the horrors of this world. From the lighting in this scene presents itself as a symbol of hope. Shining down on the kids as they play baseball. Surrounded by parents symbolizing as their protectors. Outside of this "circle" park is the cold and evil world we live in. Benecio Del Toro earned the Oscar. His performance was brilliant in this film.

Del Toro’s Oscar was much deserved. Here, Javier sees he got what he wanted, at a violent cost. He doesn’t believe this park will make a dent in the drug trade, but he just hopes a few kids won’t get swallowed up into it. After he claps at the base hit, his hands fold, like a short, silent prayer.

Despite all the useless cost of lives, money and resources; despite the never ending cycle of bureaucracy, corruption and greed; we can still find hope that good people exist. Such a simple, poignant and powerful ending with an amazing portrayal by Del Toro.

Seldom seen. The littke satisfaction a law enforcement officer takes away knowing that he/she did well by those they were sworn to protect. All the while, those around are a bit oblivious as to what it takes to get the job done. Del Toro nailed it

Unlike a lot of the other characters in this movie, Javier didn't want money or power. He wanted the kids to have lights...so they can play at night...so it's safe.
