How to activate trailer mode in your BMW – BMW How-To

Learn in this video that BMW offers a special 'Trailer mode' for when driving with a trailer or carrier at the tow hitch. To ensure traffic safety and prevent damage to your BMW, as soon as you connect the plug, this mode is automatically activated. If for example a rear carrier is attached without lights, you can manually activate the Trailer mode. In BMWs with Operating System 7 you can do so by going to: 'CAR', 'Settings', 'General settings', 'Trailer mode', and select 'Trailer mode'.
Depending on model and equipment, Lane Change Warning and other driver assistance systems are restricted. When the trailer mode is manually activated, it is not possible to retract the tow hitch.
Also depending on model and equipment, other systems, like adjusting the air suspension level, are not available when trailer mode is activated.

WOW, I'm just seeing this. Will this work for my 2014 320i xDrive? I want to get an enclosed motorcycle trailer at a 5x10 or 6x12 trailer size.

But there is no Trailer assistance. It would be difficult to properly park without the active assist.

Why do you have to go through 5 steps to get to "trailer mode". There should a voice activated search option
