I visited this temple recently, its uttrakosamangai temple. Its really amazing to see that natrajan emerald statue. Its look majestic with sandal covered.

This temple is called utthirakosamangai temple in tamilnadu...the marriage of Ravana is happened in this temple; this is where lord shiva danced tandav first to maa parvati...so maa requested lord shiva to tandav infront of peoples, so his devotees will be blessed. After that lord shiva danced tandav in chitambaram- famous natraj pose...but according to the temple scriptures, this uthirakosamangai temple is called "aadhi chitambaram", the first dance of lord shiva tandav happened here only...this temple is earlier than ramayan but ravan, who abducted mandodari, got married in this temple, infront of lord... actually this temple has more mysteries...not everyone can visit this temple.there are more mysterious temples in south which are not researched well...Tamil is the language given by lord Shiva himself...if people researched ancient tamil texts we can get more details...but due to people's foolishness we have lost huge literature treasures, artifacts and antiques...
Even tamil peoples don't know their deep roots and their memories got erased by colonialism...but some valuable antiques are still preserved in form of idol or sculpture in the temple...it is hard to find for the normal people... atleast we can hope to preserve rest of these uniques.

I respect the cultural heritage of our Tamil Nadu. But there is a temple in Andhra Pradesh, called Gudimallam where it is said it is the first Shiva temple of the earth and the idol was made by the element which is not from Earth.

Why use the word ""idol"" they are not idols as how middle eastern religions used the word. They are murtis, vigraha.

Unbelievable! I was happy to learn about such a fascinating temple. Then I looked at the comments and got disgusted. Why can't Indians be Indians and celebrate our culture, traditions and differences without insulting each other? There is no need for oneupmanship all the time. Take a break, drink a glass of water and be grateful to be born in a country which is so unique.
I'm a Tamilian woman living in Hyderabad for almost 11 years now. Yes, while a lot of houses have the naamam or names related to Lord Venkatesa, I have NEVER been discriminated because of my language or because I follow Lord Shiva. I put the Sanskrit and Tamil signs for Om on my door. My neighbors are only curious and are happy to learn about my customs. I'm sorry that some Tamilians faced issues in the Telugu states, but I know a lot of people, including myself, who have faced a lot of issues in Tamil Nadu too. So don't be so small-minded to blame an entire state, religion or community because a few people might have bad experiences. I have met kind and nasty people everywhere and it isn't restricted to one place. Stop the hate. We're all Indians. End of story.
