“Go behind-the-scenes with a real-life ballerina to see how she brought to life the princesses’ ballet choreography!” - Mattel 2006

In this documentary we are introduced to principal dancer with the NYC Ballet, Maria Kowroski, who up until 2006 had been the dancer for Barbie®. We get to see her everyday life, working as a professional dancer to how she trains for her performances. We are also shown to how the film was made using motion-capture sensors. This is one of my favorite documentaries of Maria. She’s my personal hero! 💖

Wow just want to say thank you all for the recent comments. Although I posted this video many months ago I’m surprised for its recent amount of numerous comments. Thank you all for the support! ❤️😌

No wonder the older Barbie movies were amazing. They were made into perfection and used real dancers.

“To all the little girls out there...”

Girl, I’m in my late twenties and I still love the hell out of this movie. PROUDLY.

Despite the older movies not having the technology from today for some reason there's more detail in the older ones than the new ones which are filled with bright pinks and purples, only the older ones had some realism with fantasy if that makes sense

petition to turn this into an actual ballet with variations and everything. imagine how magical it would be with the orchestra and beautiful costumes and dancers. I would love to see this in a theatre

I now see why they named their children alphabetically, easier choreography numbering

Maria officially retires from the New York City Ballet this October, when she has her final show. She’s the company’s longest current member. She really was our childhood and I wish her the best.

Can we actually give Maria Kowroski a big thank you. She made our dreams of ballet become real life, she still dances and now teaches at NYC ballet studio, fun fact On Pointe, that is stream on Disney+ is the dance academy where she works ( correct me if I’m wrong ) but she literally made our childhood become more magical and meaningful! Love you Maria! Thank you

I remember when I was a child, I would dance and step on our floor tiles to see if a magical portal would open 😂

I'm 19, on quarantine, watching this because the almighty algorithm brought me here. The algorithm did well, this was my favorite Barbie movie and still is till this day.

So that is why Barbie always got good ballet, not like other children's movies. Impressive!
