Stars perform at the 2019 CBC Music Festival at Echo beach in Toronto. One of the most anticipated performances at this year's CBC Music Festival was from Canadian indie-pop veterans Stars. The band, which has been around for almost two decades, celebrated the 15th anniversary of its breakout album, Set Yourself on Fire, by playing it in its entirety. From the opening moments of "Set Yourself on Fire," complete with the recording of singer Torquil Campbell's father, Douglas, declaring, "When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire," to the jubilant pop choruses of "Ageless Beauty" and "Reunion," the band's performance was everything fans had hoped for and more.

Seen them north of 20 gigs...from Massey to Jackson Triggs, from the small little Music Club in London ontario (the place upstairs), to a beautiful church in the Hammer.
The great old BSS Olympic Island gatherings, Wayhome, the great shows at the Garrison Commons grounds...can never satisfy my craving to what Is always a sure-fire, killer show.

The nostalgia is real. I discovered this band on Myspace (RIP) in like 2006. And was amazed by the female's beautiful voice and the great composition. I spent days finding all the mp3s I could get and eventually bought the album! <3

Thank you for this, the 'entire concert' as one recording. I had found the individual songs, but to see the entire 2019 performance, 15 years later brings me right back to my early 20's in the early 2000's. Time travel is possible with the right songs!
